Show Description
The return of the historic Mounds View Mermaid "Hope", who first went on display in 1966. After a lengthy nine-month journey of rejuvenation, this treasured local landmark is finally back home and looking better than ever. Her hiatus, which began in part due to a necessary structural assessment, culminated in an extreme makeover from the skilled professionals at Mike's Painting and Sandblasting out of New Ulm.
The restoration work was extensive, tackling the decades of wear and tear, including sun fading, cracks, and even a few infamous "battle scars" the statue had accumulated over the years. With her structure stabilized and a dazzling, fresh coat of paint applied to restore her original vibrancy, the mermaid has once again taken her rightful spot at the Mounds View Event Center, ready to greet visitors and stand as a centerpiece for the community for years to come.
